The S.A. Physicians, Surgeons & Dentists: Best of 2024 physician peer survey recognizes medical professionals in the South Texas community. Physicians nominate their peers within their specialty and in other areas of healthcare. Scene in S.A. magazine has been in circulation for 25 years.

Lance E. Jackson, M.D., F.A.C.S., Otology/Neurotology – Dr. Jackson is the founder of the Ear Institute of Texas. He is board-certified in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery and has a sub-specialty board certification in Neurotology. He provides all aspects of adult and pediatric ear, allergy, and audiology care.
After growing up in San Antonio, Dr. Jackson attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he received an undergraduate degree in electrical/bioelectrical engineering. He earned his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his otolaryngology residency at Stanford University. He then completed a postgraduate fellowship in Otology and Neurotology at the Ear Research Foundation in Florida. Dr. Jackson is widely recognized for his work with distinctions including Texas Super Doctors, Best Doctors, San Antonio’s Top Doctors, and America’s Top Doctors. He has received Scene in S.A.’s “best of” peer recognition every year since 2018.
Jennifer L. Bergeron, M.D. – Dr. Bergeron is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Laryngologist with specific interests in voice, swallowing, airway, and head and neck cancer. She holds an undergraduate degree in vocal music performance from Pepperdine University where she trained as a coloratura soprano. She graduated with highest honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 2008. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ENT) at the University of California, Los Angeles. She then completed fellowship training as a clinical instructor in the Division of Laryngology at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Bergeron performs some unique procedures for patients who have vocal cord paralysis and spasmodic dysphonia, in addition to offering comprehensive ENT care. She has received Scene in S.A.’s “best of” peer recognition every year since 2018.
Nancy Burt, M.D. Neurologist – Neurologist Dr. Nancy Burt earned her first degree in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska and worked in research in the Pathology, Pharmacology and Biochemistry departments. She went to medical school followed by a Neurology Residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has been a Neurologist since 1999, focusing her neurology practice on dizziness and headaches in Texas. She has been caring for patients in San Antonio since 2011. Dr. Burt has received Scene in S.A.’s “best of” peer recognition every year since 2018.
Jessica Kepchar, D.O. – Board-certified Otolaryngologist Dr. Jessica Kepchar completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware, where she was a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship awardee. She graduated second in her class from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Her 12-year active-duty Army career took her first to Ft. Polk, Louisiana where she served as the lone Otolaryngology provider for soldiers and their families. She then served as the associate program director of the residency program and as the chief of the department of Otolaryngology at the Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Kepchar cares for all ages and ranges of ear, nose, and throat ailments and treats sleep apnea. Dr. Kepchar is a repeat winner of Scene in S.A.’s “best of” peer recognition.
